Miniature Apple Trees
In this section you will find genuine miniature apple trees which are ideal if you are short on space. A miniature apple tree is grafted onto M27 stock which will mature to just 150-180cm’s in height; the spread is usually the same.
M27 miniature apples are ideal for growing in containers or spreading around the garden. Remember to leave a suitable distance between each tree, not less than the expected width of the tree. In every respect except size, these trees are like traditional apple trees in shape just on a scaled down version.
Crops can be heavy; 20-25ibs or more with heavy cropping varieties. They are often more precocious than more vigorous trees, settling to regular cropping often from year 2.
If you want to grow apple trees in a pot, then this is the ideal choice. Choose a container of not less than 18″ and use a proprietary soil-based compost such as John Innes no 2. Pruning of these delightful mini apple trees is just the same as with the larger varieties and is detailed in the cultural guide included with your order.
