Dutch raised variety, from a cross between Ingrid Marie and Golden Delicious. Deserves wider appreciaiton, a very good garden apple tree with a lovely flavour and attractive presentation.

Elstar apple trees – flavour:

Delicious. Sweet and honeyed but not too syrupy with a gentle underlying acidity. Plenty of juice, good crisp texture but not too firm.

Elstar can be enjoyed from October to January.

Elstar Apple - appearance:

Medium sized mostly conical in shape, brilliant sunny yellow with a broad red flush. Often almost too good to eat.

Uses:

A dessert apple.

Cropping & Growth

Medium vigour, hardy and easy to grow and usually very productive.

Elstar - Pollination: ‘B’ Pollination group, so use varieties with the same or adjacent pollinating prefixes. Good pollinating varieties are suggested below:

Tree sizes for Elstaer apple trees for sale:

M27 is a miniature stock, ideal for very small gardens, pots on the patio etc. Grows to around 180cm’s. Good hearty soil is preferred.

M9 is classed as dwarfing and a good intermediiate stock. Matures to 200cm’s plus with a similar spread. M9 is heavy cropping and promotes larger fruits, but needs permanent staking and good soil.

M26 stock Is classed as semi-dwarfing. Does well on poorer soil. Reaches 300cm’s+ with the same spread.

MM106 is vigorous and the best choice for larger area's grassy paddocks and orchard growing.
